After the trauma of being breathalysed last night I woke up bright and early and enjoyed an hour listening to the birds with a large cup of tea.

Soft persistent rain woke me up this morning. That and the blackbird singing, perched in his usual spot on the aerial of our neighour’s house.

You know when you wake up in the morning and already can’t wait for bedtime again? That was me this morning. A large cup of tea – and back to bed.

Bad news from the UK. The vineyard where Nigel worked before we moved to France suffered terrible frost damage a few nights ago. 90-100% damage.

Wow day fifty. That sounds like a long time. Counting down now to May 11th when the lock-down is eased (hopefully). Lots to get on with today.

It’s a happy day today. Rosie’s birthday. I’m sorry I can’t see her in person but I know she’ll have a happy day and it will be one she won’t forget.

I’m happy to report that Maurice the mouse is still fit and well. I caught a glimpse of him late last night as he came out to munch his daily rations.

I lay in bed listening to the blackbird singing loudly in the garden this morning. He sits on the top of our gate post. A little treat to start the day.

A dreary day here in the Loire. Grey and dull. It’s trying to rain but not making a very good job of it. A sluggish start in this house.

I used to hate cats. My family was a ‘dog’ family. My Dad hates cats and so I hated cats. We always had labradors in our house.

Wine Education – fighting frost
My picture today is of what we call a ‘tow and blow’ machine. One of the many tools used by winemakers to fight frost here in the Loire.
