Loire valley vintage 2017 update – Domaine de la Bergerie

Popped in to pick up some wine this morning and had a quick chat with the team at Domaine de la Bergerie.  Things are looking good, this is their second week of harvest and today they are picking in Savennières (Le Croix Picot).

Anne made a first pass through the vineyard for the Clos de la Bergerie (one of the domaine’s sweet wines) on the 5th September and it came in with a potential of 17°. Absolutely unheard of and something that Yves Guegniard has not seen in his 40 years of making wine.

This year is Anne and Marie Guegniard’s first year in charge with Yves and Marie-Annick on hand to offer assistance and advice if asked!!

They are trying to move fast as alcohols are rising. An initial pass to remove any rot from the grapes has been made so grapes are coming in clean and very ripe.
