It’s nearly lunchtime and I’m still sitting on the computer responding to all the lovely messages from friends, relatives, previous clients and wine lovers.

So finally the UK joins us in lock-down. I spoke to my parents last night (thank goodness for Facetime) and they do seem quite worried by it all now.

Pesto (our cat) was successful hunting and caught a chaffinch. She’s a useless hunter normally so that little bird must have been really caught off guard.

Unfortunately it looks like the temperature is due to dip below zero this week which is very bad news for local vignerons.

There was a kerfuffle outside this morning as we woke up. I could hear voices so went to the window to see what was happening.

Rosé wine is made in practically all of the Loire appellations. Each appellation uses the red grape varieties permitted in that zone of production.

As I looked out of my bedroom window I could see my neighbour ploughing the little parcel of land opposite his house in preparation for planting.

Yesterday afternoon I arranged a clandestine meeting with Louisa up in the vineyards to swap contraband. She’d promised to give me some sourdough starter.

Wine Education – how do you spot a healthy vineyard?
It seems to obvious to me as I walk through the vineyards above the house. It’s easy for me to spot which vineyards are healthy and which are not.

Whoa! That was a bit of a shock! I got out of bed and what do I see? An sms on the mobile phone from the Government telling me to stay inside!
