We spent a weekend in Versailles recently and were lucky enough to be treated to an evening at the Palace of Versailles, les Grands Eaux Musicales.
Every Saturday during the summer months, you can wander around the beautiful gardens of the chateau at dusk with a glass of Champagne in your hand.
It’s just magical. As you wander around the paths and alleyways you come across a whold myriad of fountains and water features, each one animated with a light show, bubbles, classical music, fire or smoke.
Yes there are lots of people there but it’s so vast it doesn’t feel like you’re cheek to jowl with your fellow tourists and at the end of the evening, to cap it all, there’s a wonderful firework display.
We loved seeing the interior of the chateau earlier in the day but were really blown away by the garden experience. Truly wonderful.
