So, you’re in a French restaurant or have been invited to dinner at a French home and the cheeseboard is passed to you. Do you know how to cut the cheese?

Cheese etiquette is important in France and you’re going to get some very withering looks if you cut the cheese incorrectly.

So, how do you cut a Crottin de Chavignol (pictured here)?

This is how you cut a Crottin de Chavignol or any cake shaped cheese. You take a little wedge just like cutting a cake!

The rind on these kind of cheeses is entirely edible so no need to trim that off before eating. With the exception of hard cheeses, the rind is almost always delicous!
