What’s on the cheeseboard this month? Petit Troo

Petit Troo

We were delighted to find a local cow’s milk cheese that’s produced just half an hour away from us. Petit Troo is going to make a regular appearance on our cheeseboard from now on.

The Loire is much more famous for goat’s cheeses (think St Maure de Touraine, Valencay, Selles sur Cher, Crottin de Chavignol) so to find a little cheese that is a bit different is lovely.

Gentle on the palate it’s lovely and creamy with a fresh quality. It’s a teensy bit like Chaource (if you know that one). As it gets older it develops a really soft creamy edge that melts in the mouth. Perfect alongside a chilled glass of dry Chenin Blanc from Vouvray or Montlouis sur Loire or a light red such as a Gamay from Touraine.
