I’ve spoken about how much we like the wines of François and Julien Pinon and last night I received a FB message from one of our clients who had tracked down a bottle in the US.
Silex Noir is so called because the parcel of land where the grapes are grown, is littered with black flint.

If you walk through François and Julien’s cellars you’ll see a seam of black flint runs through the limestone wall. This flint is unusual and only found in this particular bit of the Vouvray appellation.

The wine costs 13,50€ cellar door and is 24$ in the US. A good price for a really excellent wine. It has 13.7g of residual sugar so is not considered a ‘dry’ wine but the beautiful acidity balances it perfectly.
Enjoy it with something spicy or creamy.
