Whether you’re in the Loire on holiday, staying in Paris, with family and friends or business colleagues – a day in the beautiful Loire countryside is always good for the soul.
Last week we welcomed a lovely group from the UK who were staying in Paris and came down for a slightly calmer day of wine and fun here in Cumeray, close to the river in rural Anjou. We collected them from the station in Angers and started the day with a glass of Crémant before tasting a range of wines and then playing some aroma games before enjoying lunch in our old cellar and a walk down to the river in Le Thoureil.
You don’t need to be passionate about wine to enjoy a day like this as it’s always light hearted and always tailored to the interests, knowledge and requirements of each individual group.

Starting the day with a glass of Crémant in the garden.

All ready to taste a range of wines from the region.

Some aroma games – we put the chaps up against the ladies.

And it was the ladies who won!

Some laughter in the garden before lunch!

We decorated the cellar to celebrate a ‘big birthday’.

Confit of duck served with local white beans, orange, lardons and thyme followed by cheeses and a chocolate tart with red fruits.

A little reflection before heading off down to the river to walk off the big lunch!

A loop around Le Thoureil is delightful. The roof terraces of the beautiful houses are revealed before dropping down to the riverside to enjoy the river and lovely architecture.

Sitting on the wall and enjoying the calm.

There was a little wake boarding going on to amuse us too.

A special cake to celebrate a special birthday.
It was a lovely day for us all. The combination of happy people, lovely weather, beautiful scenery accompanied by a sprinkling of local food and Loire valley wines made for a wonderful day.
