What are we drinking this week? Clos de L’Etoile 2010 from Arnaud Lambert

Arnaud Lambert

We’re big fans of Arnaud Lambert’s wines. Last night we enjoyed a bottle of his top red,  Clos de l’Etoile 2010 which is a Cabernet Franc from the Saumur appellation.

This wine comes from the vineyards surrounding Chateau de Brézé that Arnaud farms on a long term contract. He’s making some pretty special wines from these coveted parcels.

Clos de l'Etoile

Clos de l’Etoile 2010 – a fine example of  a beautifully crafted Cabernet Franc

More expensive than many reds from Saumur it’s absolutely justified by its quality, elegance and balance. Packed full of red smoky fruits the tannins are still present but beautifully integrated into the wine. It has a lovely velvety quality and a delicate floral note. 2010 is one of our favourite vintages in recent years. The wines have incredible balance and a wonderful freshness.

Arnaud no longer uses this label so you can expect younger vintages to be bottled under Domaine Arnaud Lambert.

We regularly include Arnaud’s wines in our tastings.
