Small businesses such as ours are suffering in the wake of the Coronavirus but at least we’re not on total lock down like they are in Italy.
We opened a bottle of Cos Frappato 2018 the other night alongside our pan fried chicken breast with tomato and bread sauce. What a delight!
Frappato is a grape variety that you might not have heard of. It has a bright ruby hue and notes of sour cherry on the palate. This grape is often blended with Nero d’Avola in Sicily under the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG but in this case it’s not a blend, it’s 100% Frappato in the IGP category.
It absolutely suits our palate. Fresh and enticing with lovely fruit and lively acidity. It has some tannin too, just the right amount to give some texture and interest. Perfect with a tomato based sauce.
We bought it online from Vinissumus for around 16.50€ a bottle. Delicious stuff!
