Making wine with the girls!

Last year you may remember that I was invited to go and pick Chardonnay grapes with a lovely bunch of ladies. It was the initiative of Louisa Plou, wife of winemaker Fred Plou and co-owner of Chateau de Montdomaine.

We met in the morning and sustained by a coffee and croissant drove off to a small parcel perched on the plateau of Chargé just by Amboise. We picked our grapes in the morning sunshine and after driving back to the chateau, enjoyed a delightful lunch in the garden (when one or two of the men were allowed to join us!)

6 months on and I have good news to report. I tasted the wine from barrel yesterday and – it’s tasting fantastic. There’ll only be a thousand or so bottles to sell and we’ll definitely be taking some so I look forward to sharing the wine and the story with you.

Louisa (who is a talented artist) is currently designing a suitable label for the wine. Girls only!!
