Jacky Blot’s wines from Domaine de la Taille aux Loups are some of the best coming out of the Montlouis appellation. We tasted a range today and without exception they were delicious, each one with its own unique identity. Precise, elegant wines, handcrafted with care and attention.
Sadly, like many other growers in the Montlouis appellation, there is fear that there will be losses in the vineyard tonight due to frost. La Taille aux Loups was the first domaine to purchase an aolienne (the heated wind turbines that protect the vines from frost damage) in the appellation. Today is has 8 that will stir into action in the early hours of tomorrow morning. The April 4th frost has already damaged an estimated 6 hectares of vines owned by the estate so further damage would be catastrophic.
