We had the pleasure and privilidge to replace Vincent Carême at the recent Paulée des Vins de Loire in Chartres recently.
After the tasting, in the evening, the organisers, owners of Le Grand Monarque Hotel & Spa laid on a spectacular dinner to thank the growers for their participation.
A Michelin 2 star dinner during which one pairing really stood out for us.

It was the dessert. A fine meringue case encasing slowly roasted new season’s strawberries from Plougastel, a vanilla cream and a tart rhubarb sauce.
It was paired with a Loire Gamay from Henry Marionnet not far from us here in Touraine.
The pairing was magnificent. The sweet fruit of the Gamay complemented the sweet fruit of the strawberries, the fresh acidity picking up on the tartness of the rhubarb. Just sublime and one that you should try.
So, for the tasting on the 23rd, why not grab a punnet of strawberries and try it for yourself? You’ll be surprised how good it is!
