Loire chateaux – arrive early and beat the crowds
My advice would be to do just one chateau a day – that way you can arrive in good time, relax and enjoy your visit in the knowledge you are not going to be herded around like cattle, go and find a nice spot for lunch, take your time over a delicious meal and then potter during the afternoon away from the crush.

A change of pace in the Loire from Paris
Paris is busy as always during August despite a distinct lack of Parisians! Here in the Loire we continue as normal and take pleasure in sharing our calm way of life in the countryside with fellow wine lovers looking for a change of pace. The TGV provides a direct service to Angers St Laud and yesterday we welcomed 3 couples down here for the day. With temperatures a little cooler than of late, it was fresh enough to take pleasure roaming around the vineyard examining the vines as well as doing plenty of wine tasting.

Loire Wine Discovery Tour in the Coteaux du Layon
The Coteaux du Layon is perhaps most famous for its wonderful sweet wines but producers in Anjou have a wide palate to play with so tend to make many other styles of wine too including sparkling, dry white, rosé and red. The landscape is quite different to elsewhere in the Loire valley and is well worth a visit on foot, by car or cycling through the vineyards.
