It’s all systems go as growers prepare for a glacial weekend here in the Loire. Temperatures are set to drop below zero in the early hours tonight.

Once again frost has struck the Loire valley. 2 nights ago growers lit the burners, turned on the aspersion and cranked up the hot air turbines.

The appellation Anjou-Villages Brissac was created in 1998 and covers a dozen communes around the market town of Brissac making quality reds for ageing.

After incredible amounts of rain in June, the hot weather finally settled in the Loire and has continued for most of the month.

The week of the Le Mans 24 hours race is always our busiest of the year and 2018 was no exception. We had 33 people through that week culminating with the Le Mans Gang.

If you like to run and are in the Loire this September, the Foulées du Saumur Champigny is a lovely event amongst the vines. Runs of 9km, 17km and a troglo trail of 29km as well as 2 Nordic walking trails and much more.

The hospital of Saumur in partnership with the well known Saumur Co-Operative Robert & Marcel has announced that it has signed a 25 year agreement for Robert & Marcel to manage the famous Clos Cristal vineyard and that there will be 1,3 million euros investment over the next 5 years.
