The 8th of May. The day we commemorate 75 years since the end of the Second World War. In normal times there would be a ceremony in Paris.

Life in the Loire on lock-down. 14th April. Day thirty one.
So, confinement has been extended until May 11th. After that, (if all goes to plan), there’ll be a progressive reopening of nuseries, schools and colleges.

Hunting for mushrooms
French people are very secretive about mushrooms. They don’t let on where you can find them in case you go and pinch them yourselves.

Personal news – my life in the Loire July 27th 2018
I’m sitting in the tasting room as I write this update, escaping the heat that has settled in the Loire and indeed in many countries around the world. Days and days of very hot weather reaching up into the late 30’s (in the 90’s).

Un diner en blanc at Chateau du Petit Thouars
Our friends Sebastien and D’Arcy du Petit Thouars host a diner en blanc at their beautiful chateau every year and this year we were able to join in the fun.

La journée du cochon – village life in France
The butcher, the guy that supplies our wood for the fire, the local beekeeper, us, a sprinkling of friends and plenty of simple food and wine. It was just a day to remember.
