Life in the Loire after lock-down. 8th June. Day 29 of déconfinement.
Leaving it until the very last moment, I finally managed to sort out our tax declaration this morning with the help of our accountant about 8 hours before the deadline.

So, we come downstairs, feed the cat who has just wailed to be let in, make a cup of tea, cats wails to be let out again, we let her out again and she races across the grass like lightening.

Today’s going to be an admin day. Income 2019 declaration on-line, updating the accounts, printing off official papers to sign. What joy!

The bad news this morning is that I can’t bend down far enough to put my socks on. The good news is – I don’t have a headache. Hooray!

Louisa and Fred’s restaurant Chez Bruno did well yesterday. I’m so happy for them that people came out to support them. It was such a beautiful day too.

There’s something very satisfying about making something out of nothing. That’s what I did first thing this morning. I decided to make a chilled soup.

So, from Tuesday next week, France will enter into phase two of the deconfinement. What does that mean? Restaurants, bars and cafés can reopen for business.

Up bright and early today. A girls’ lunch is on the menu which will be nice. It’ll be the first time I’ve seen one or two since the lockdown in March.

Off to Tours this morning to replenish the cheese and collect paint. Our decorating endeavours came to a temporary halt a few weeks ago.

Those wretched squirrels are still at it in the attic. We spent a couple of hours lying awake last night alongside the cat, all three of us looking up.

After the trauma of being breathalysed last night I woke up bright and early and enjoyed an hour listening to the birds with a large cup of tea.

Soft persistent rain woke me up this morning. That and the blackbird singing, perched in his usual spot on the aerial of our neighour’s house.
