A few things that you might not know about the Loire valley.

We’re happy to add another local producer to our Loire wine tastings this year, Domaine de la Bergerie in Anjou.

The first real chance to get a handle on the current vintage is at the annual trade tastings which happen at the end of January beginning of February each year.

We were invited to see how work is progressing at Domaine FL today. Beautifully situated in the heart of the Layon, this project is nearing the final phase.

One of our favorite spots just down the road from us here at le tasting room. St Mathurin is a pretty riverside village overlooking the river Loire.

We’ve teamed up with Franck and Sandra to offer our Loire Wine Indulgence – a mini break that comprises 2 nights accommodation at the Auberge and a full day’s wine tour with us. Cathy takes care of all the arrangements on your behalf so you can relax and enjoy a little peace and quiet in the countryside accompanied by some great wines and wonderful food.

Normally in La Pointe it’s possible to walk down to the river and alongside it. You can sit on one of the benches and admire the tranquil water or potter along and find a more solitary spot to enjoy a glass of wine or a picnic.

For true French style, great food and a good wine list, Le Relais in Angers is hard to beat.

I’m sure that most of you reading this are aware the 2102 vintage is being billed as a catastrophic one and will therefore be expecting to read of doom and gloom. Take heart, there are some great wines out there and while they may be in short supply as yields were seriously down, prices remain stable and growers optimistic for 2013.
