This Loire wine tour is available as a day trip from Paris and has a focus on organic wines and the natural approach to growing vines.
Increasingly, small, high quality growers are using horses to work their most prestigious parcels. A labour of love, it relies on the close connection between man/woman and these beautiful horses.
The day includes a trip into the vineyards to see these beautiful horses at work, a tutored tasting, 3 course home cooked lunch and a winery visit in the afternoon.
A diverse tasting of a range of different wine styles and grape varieties from the Loire valley including Chenin Blanc, Muscadet, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Gamay, Malbec and many more. A home cooked lunch using local and seasonal produce served in a typical Loire valley home dug into the limestone hillside. The chance to see the horses in action in the vineyard. The cost of your rail tickets from Paris. There is a direct train from Paris Montparnasse to St Pierre des Corps (just outside Tours) that takes just 55 minutes and arrives at 10h09. Book your tickets on www.sncf.com in advance for the best prices (ask Cathy if you need assistance). Collection can be arranged from the station.
Make your way to our address in Noizay (just 10 minutes from Amboise) for a 10h30 start with coffee and biscuits.
We’ll head out in the vineyards to track down Philippe and his beautiful horses at one of the many parcels so you have the chance to see first hand the incredible work he does (this is obviously weather dependent and also depends upon the time of year).
Having been out in the vineyard we then return to our tasting room where we run through the basics of tasting technique, discuss the geography of the region and unravel the mysteries of French wine labelling. This tasting concentrates on wines made by organic and biodynamic producers and those who work to use few additives in the winery or vineyard.
Relax in the garden with an aperitif before a delicious home-made 3 course lunch with wine. Indulge in a selection of dishes creatively prepared using local ingredients sourced from our neighbouring potager and local suppliers, herbs from our garden and a selection of cheeses from a top quality supplier. We’ll share food and wine pairing advice and tips and relax in true French style.
After lunch we’ll head off out and visit a local grower in the region where you’ll have the chance to taste another range of wines. We work with a selection of small growers that all make wine with the environment in mind.
