The official go-ahead for harvest in the Vouvray appellation has been given. Several growers requested permission to start a little earlier and over the weekend I had the pleasure to spot Michel Autran and his small team picking in the vineyards of Noizay just above the house.
Michel makes tiny quantities of high quality, mineral driven, lean, precise Vouvray and he joins up with three other small growers/copins during harvest time.
Michel Autran, Philippe Chigard, Alexandre Giquel and Thomas Puéchavy. 4 small growers/friends who have vineyards in and around Noizay. One team picks for them all and they all support one another.
The weather is beautiful today. Warm sunshine and bright blue skies. Hard to think what a terrible time we are all going through. Life goes on in the vineyard and the vine stops for noone.
