What are we drinking this week? Busardières 2011, Bourgueil from Domaine de la Chevalerie

Memories of 2011 as we sat out in the garden enjoying dinner this week. The difference between this year and 2011 is that as we sat in the garden that year, the rain clouds passed over us and we didn’t see a drop between June and September whereas this year we have had deluges of rain at the beginning of June.

Domaine de la Chevalerie Busardières

Busardières 2011, a beautifully balanced Cabernet Franc from Bourgueil

We love all the wines from Domaine de la Chevalerie in Bourgueil. An organic and bio-dynamic producer, Busardières 2011 was drinking beautifully. With the classic up front fruit character of the 2011’s from the Loire this was full of ripe plummy, forest fruit and lovely soft integrated tannins. The parcel is on clay-limestone soil and the vines are between 20 and 60 years old.
