It seems we already have dissent in the ranks. I’ve seen two special decrees signed by mayors of different towns that defy the government.

As it happens, I’d sent a message to my friend Allegra (who also happens to be my hairdresser) asking if she could fit me in for a cut.

Counting down to lock-down again. Wednesday 28th October 2020.
06h30. It’s barely light as I tiptoe downstairs to ‘powder my nose’ and let Pesto out. I open the front door and in shoots Bigi.

I returned from the UK on Monday night and since then it’s been a week of administration punctuated by a couple of days of pure indulgence.

Up bright and early for my return journey. I never sleep well when I have a train to catch, a flight to take. Even if I’ve set the alarm.

Getting lazier by the day. I woke up at 8am this morning and only just beat Dad downstairs for my first cuppa.

Jeez, I’ve still got a bit of a headache this morning. I clearly don’t have the drinking legs of my 90 year old Dad. He can drink me under the table!

I blame Dad. It’s his fault. He shouldn’t have suggested we decant that 1977 port. I have a slightly thick head this morning.

I slept quite well. Having turned off the radiator and opened the window so I could breathe, I woke up around 07h15 French time.

After a couple of weeks of quite rich eating and lots of wine, we had a night off the booze and a simple veggie dinner on Monday.
