Life in the Loire on lock-down. Friday 27th March. Day thirteen.
I woke up with a start this morning. I was dreaming and in my dream I was shopping for essentials. In my basket were avocados, chocolate, crisps and onions.

Feeling a bit sluggish this morning. Partly because I probably got a bit carried away with the wine last night (it being my birthday).

It’s nearly lunchtime and I’m still sitting on the computer responding to all the lovely messages from friends, relatives, previous clients and wine lovers.

So finally the UK joins us in lock-down. I spoke to my parents last night (thank goodness for Facetime) and they do seem quite worried by it all now.

Pesto (our cat) was successful hunting and caught a chaffinch. She’s a useless hunter normally so that little bird must have been really caught off guard.

There was a kerfuffle outside this morning as we woke up. I could hear voices so went to the window to see what was happening.

As I looked out of my bedroom window I could see my neighbour ploughing the little parcel of land opposite his house in preparation for planting.

One glass too many of Jean François Merieau’s lovely Cent Visages Malbec has left me feeling a bit thick headed this morning.

Yesterday afternoon I arranged a clandestine meeting with Louisa up in the vineyards to swap contraband. She’d promised to give me some sourdough starter.

Whoa! That was a bit of a shock! I got out of bed and what do I see? An sms on the mobile phone from the Government telling me to stay inside!

We woke up to a dull drizzly day. Gone is the sunshine of yesterday. Back to reality, although the forecast is for more sunny weather as the week goes on.
