Le Van – a mobile wine bar in our village!

Le Van wine bar

What a great idea! We have a mobile wine bar that comes to the village every Wednesday evening. They arrive, assemble a few tables and chairs, open up and voila! The choice of wines is limited but interesting and includes wines from the Loire and elsewhere in France.

We went along last night for the first time to see how it worked and were delighted. The wines are mostly organic and Le Van seems to know its stuff giving plenty of information. If you’re not in a winey mood there are a couple of good local beers and juices too.

We choose a glass of Sauvignon from Anjou (unusual), a dry Cabernet rosé from Saumur and a demi-sec petillant from the Jura (which was the star of the show for us). At 3€ a glass it seemed great value for money. You can just have a glass like we did or buy a bottle to take away.

It also happens to be parked opposite the mobile pizza van that comes every Wednesday too. Quite a few people came along, ordered a pizza and had a glass of wine or a beer while waiting for their pizza to be cooked. What a great idea!
