Le Prieuré at Chênutte-Trèves-Cunault on the market for 1,25 million euros

Enjoying the spring sun today we popped out and had a little ramble round and about in Chênutte-Trèves-Cunault.  Perched high above the river and with one of the most spectacular views for miles is the Prieuré – a hotel owned by Grandes Etapes Françaises.  Due to sustained losses, the owners closed the hotel down at the end of December last year and are looking for someone new to come and take it over.  It’s currently on the market for 1,25 million euros which doesn’t sound too bad but it needs a big injection of cash to bring it back up to speed.  We’ve eaten there a couple of times since moving here and had different experiences each time. The first time it was lovely, the sun was shining as we enjoyed our pre-dinner cocktail enjoying the beautiful view but the last time we had dinner there, it seemed very tired.  The rooms inside the main building are beautiful but the restaurant was ‘modernised’ and is stuck in the 1980’s.

The main attraction is the terrace where you have the most wonderful views of the river Loire. It’s a real shame that it’s reached this point.  Such a beautiful place could be so good for the region – there is little to rival it in terms of position.

Any bidders?
