Happy New Year 2014

We wish you all a very Happy New Year 2014 and hope that it proves to be a peaceful, healthy and happy one for us all.  We’ve enjoyed some lovely bottles of wine over the festive period with family and friends, some from the Loire and some from other wine regions from around the world.

What makes a bottle of wine memorable?  So many factors add to the enjoyment – company, food, mood, music and timing are some that spring to mind.  Some of our best wine memories are of simple bottles of inexpensive wine served with great friends and surrounded with lots of laughter.  Sometimes the build up to an expensive bottle of wine can leave us let down by the experience and similarly something cheap and cheerful served in the right place at the right time can be just perfect.

At the end of the day wine is something to be shared and enjoyed.  A carafe of wine with no visible origin served on the terrace of our local café overlooking the Loire, a bottle of Crémant with friends before a relaxed dinner in the kitchen, a sample of the new vintage taken from tank with the winemaker, a cherished bottle from the cellar.  It’s all about enjoyment, discussion, pleasure and sharing.

Here’s to sharing some interesting bottles with you  in 2014.  We look forward to welcoming you to our home and tasting room here in the Loire.
