
Feeling rather christmassy after a lovely morning spent at Les Peupliers, a lovely bed and breakfast near Saumur run by Tracey and Mike Wilke. Mike was the Executive Head Chef of the Stone Manor Hotel in Worcestershire in the UK and worked in the industry for 30 years before setting up Les Peupliers with Tracey, a qualified beauty therapist.
Mike runs cookery courses and today’s theme was Christmas canapés.

Persian omelettes served with home made sweet chilli sauce

Goat’s cheese cheescakes with a puff pastry and sesame seed base, served with Christmas chutney

Individual gazpachos served with lime and coriander prawns

Spicey turkey samosas served with beetroot, fennel, garlic and chilli mayonnaise dip

Apple and cinnamon puff pastry bites served with caramel au beurre salé
Les Peupliers is about 35 minutes away from us here at le tasting room so a good spot to base yourselves if you are looking for a rural bed and breakfast accompanied by great food, beauty treatments and of course plenty of Loire valley wine.
