I wanted to make Nigel a special cake for his 50th birthday this week but with 10 people to feed over the weekend and all the things we have to do in the house decided to try and find someone to help out.
While looking for local cheese producers to visit on-line I stumbled across Cake Paradise, a tiny business run by a lovely lady called Laura just 10 minutes from us in Montreuil en Touraine. Over I popped and between us, we planned a special cake as a surprise when everyone arrived on the day. Trained in patisserie and cake design it seems she can come up with just about anything!
Not only was it amazing to look at and was exactly what I had in mind, it was delicious too. I choose a hazelnut sponge with a hazlenut praline filling. It was deliciously rich and moist and the perfect start to a weekend of celebrations.
If you’re visiting Amboise and plan to celebrate something special I can highly recommend a cake made by Laura.
