We spent the day with Diane, the American blogger of Oui in France. We met 10 years ago when she spent the day with us and we have remained in contact.

Things are really taking shape here at le tasting room in the Loire valley. Our new home is semi-troglodytic (partially built into the rock face).

And the 2018 vintage in the Loire? What can I say? You’re going to find some amazingly ripe and full bodied wines at amazing prices from this vintage.

Our furniture (that has been in storage since October) arrives on Monday. We can’t wait to get everything into place and start making it into a home after 4 months in our (lovely but temporary) home.

A few things that you might not know about the Loire valley.

We were invited to see how work is progressing at Domaine FL today. Beautifully situated in the heart of the Layon, this project is nearing the final phase.

Sometimes it can be hard to pin down what makes our tours different from others in the region and this review seems to sum up everything we strive to do. So, a big thank you to them for taking the time to write up their experience with us. This is what they said:

The Coteaux du Layon is perhaps most famous for its wonderful sweet wines but producers in Anjou have a wide palate to play with so tend to make many other styles of wine too including sparkling, dry white, rosé and red. The landscape is quite different to elsewhere in the Loire valley and is well worth a visit on foot, by car or cycling through the vineyards.
