WSET Level 1 Foundation Certificate in Wines PDF Print E-mail

A one day course from 09h30 - 17h00, to include buffet lunch.

This qualification aims to provide basic product knowledge and skills in the service and retail of wine, to prepare a person for their first job in hospitality or retail.

 

It is also a good introductory first course for the wine enthusiast who wishes to be introduced in a structured way to wine styles, storing and serving wine, plus food and wine matching.

It introduces candidates to:

  • The main styles of wine
  • The characteristics of the major grape varieties
  • The WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting
  • Service and retailing of wine
  • Social responsibility
  • The matching of food and wine

To gain the Level 1 qualification candidates will be required to:

  • Complete a programme of training
  • Successfully complete a multiple-choice paper of 30 questions and a portfolio of tasting notes
  • Be 16 or over at time of registration

Price: 190€ per person, to include study materials (issued on the day), samples, tuition, lunch, examination and provision of tasting glasses during the course.
