Le Tasting Room

Can you think of anything nicer?  A morning spent learning about the wines of the Loire valley, a candlelit lunch in our old barrel cellar and then a leisurely trip along the river itself in a beautiful wooden boat. This one day tour gives you a glimpse of the Loire at its finest - its wines, wildlife and heritage.

• During the morning, Cathy will introduce you to the wines of the Loire valley with a comprehensive tasting.  You'll discover the main grape varieties and styles of wine produced as well as learn a few local secrets.

• As we finish the tasting, we move in to the garden for an aperitif before enjoying a relaxing lunch in our old barrel cellar.  We'll introduce you to some local dishes and specialities, some prepared by Cathy and others sourced from our friends and producers locally.

• After lunch, we make our way down to our beautiful riverside village of Le Thoureil where we'll meet up with Alain Gillot who will take us out on his beautiful old 'toue sablière'.  An intrepid traveller and experienced boatsmen, Alain has many stories to tell of life on the river both here and around the world.  A local man, he has a wealth of knowledge and can tell you all about trading on the river during the 19th century, how the river was dredged to keep it navigable and the rare birds that nest there today.
