Relax as we drive alongside the beautiful river Loire and arrive at le tasting room in time for coffee/tea and biscuits made by local producer Le Vinaillou.
During the morning Cathy introduces you to the wines of the Loire valley with a comprehensive tasting. You’ll discover the main grape varieties and styles of wine produced as well as learn a few local secrets in the comfort of our beautiful 16th century tasting room.
After the tasting, we move to the garden for an aperitif before enjoying a relaxing 3 course lunch in our old barrel cellar. Local dishes and specialities are served alongside seasonal salads and herbs from the garden, as well as a top quality cheeseboard from celebrated fromager Pascal Beillievaire, and a delicious dessert.
We then make our way down to our beautiful riverside village of Le Thoureil where we meet up with Alain Gillot who takes us out on his beautiful old ‘toue sablière’. An intrepid traveller and experienced boatman, Alain has many stories to tell of life on the river both here and around the world. A local man, he has a wealth of knowledge and can tell you all about life on the river during centuries gone by.
