Intrigued? Grapes and oranges may seem an unlikely combination but did you know that Angers in the Loire valley is home to the world’s most famous Orange liqueur, Cointreau? This day combines a morning of wine tasting and an afternoon visit to the ultra modern distillery together with a lazy lunch in our old barrel cellar.

Relax as we drive alongside the beautiful river Loire and arrive at le tasting room in time for coffee/tea and biscuits made by local producer Le Vinaillou.
Enjoy a tutored tasting of 6 wines reflecting the diversity of this great winemaking region in the comfort of our 16th century tasting room. We run through the basics of tasting technique, discuss the geography of the region and unravel the mysteries of French wine labelling.
Relax in the garden with an aperitif before moving into the cellar for a delicious home-made 3 course lunch with wine in our old barrel maturation cellar beneath the house. Indulge in a selection of dishes creatively prepared using local ingredients sourced from our neighbouring potager, and herbs from our garden.
After lunch we drive to Angers, home to the world’s most famous orange liqueur, Cointreau. Here we enjoy a guided visit around their production site and finish the day with a cocktail in their contemporary bar. You’ll also have the chance to buy a range of Cointreau products in the factory shop.

We require a 75€ per person non-refundable deposit upon booking for wine tours. Bookings made within 48 hours of the tour date will be subject to payment in full at the time of booking. Any tour cancelled within 48 hours of the tour date will be subject to full payment. Any cancellations on our part will be fully refunded.
