Le Tasting Room

Get off the road, on your bike and into the vineyards around Saumur-Champigny. If a day cycling amongst the vines appeals, this is the option for you.

The Loire valley is a popular destination for cyclists from all corners of the globe. Being keen cyclists ourselves, we have discovered many off-road tracks that lead to some of the most picturesque vineyards in the region.

We cater for all levels of cyclist so please specify when booking. You may be looking for a relaxing day with a little cycling (10km max) or a more adventurous experience (up to 50km off-road for keen mountain bikers).  Below is an example of what we offer:

• Meet at la gare in Saumur where we'll take you to collect bikes if required.

• Cycle alongside the river Loire towards Souzay-Champigny  to our first winery for a tour and tasting.

• Relax over a picnic lunch with wine provided by le tasting room.  This will typically include a home-made savoury tart, couscous with mediterranean vegetables, a selection of cheeses with fresh bread from the boulangerie and a dessert.

• After lunch, we'll venture off-road, wending our way through the vineyards to our second winery visit in Chaintres.  Late afternoon, we'll cycle to one of the many sparkling wine houses overlooking the river for a final tour and tasting.

• We finish the day with a glass of wine and a slice of home-made cake.

Price: 100€ per person for up to 3 people, 75€ per person for 4 or more, to include guide, winery visits, tastings, picnic lunch and refreshments (maximum 10 people).  Bikes not provided but are available to hire in Saumur from 14€ per day.
