A Taste of Anjou (1 day)

Indulge yourself with a day devoted to food and wine from the garden of France. A relaxing day at le tasting room in Cumeray, to incorporate a tutored tasting, lunch in our old barrel cellar and a walk around the vineyards in the pretty riverside village of Le Thoureil.

Make your way here for a 09h30 start with coffee and home-made biscuits.

Enjoy a tutored tasting of 6 wines reflecting the diversity of this great winemaking region. We'll run through the basics of tasting technique, discuss the geography of the region and unravel the mysteries of French wine labelling in the relaxed environment of our tasting room.

Relax in the garden with an aperitif before moving into the cellar for a delicious 4 course lunch. A typical menu will include dishes such as home-made terrine with celeriac remoulade, roasted salmon with a pesto sauce and mediterranean vegetables, local cheeses, and a tarte au citron - all accompanied by wines from the region.

After lunch we'll have a stroll around the pretty riverside village of Le Thoureil. We'll reveal the history of this ancient mariner's port and on returning to le tasting room pass through several local vineyards where we'll have the opportunity to discuss the basic principals of viticulture.

Return to Cumeray late afternoon for a glass of fizz in the garden or enjoy a drink by the river in Le Thoureil.

Price: 125€ per person (2-10 people). To include collection from and delivery back to Angers TGV 140€ per person (max 6 people).
