The perfect break for food and wine lovers. A really interactive few days, with lots of wine tasting, delicious food and interesting winery visits, as well as time to unwind and enjoy the beautiful Loire valley.

We’ll teach you how to taste like the professionals, introduce you to the basic principles of food and wine matching, and take you to see some of the region’s most interesting producers. We do all the driving so you can relax and enjoy the great food and fine wine.

You are responsible for selecting, booking and paying for your accommodation. We work with a number of local people, but you are of course free to stay wherever you choose, providing it is within a 30 minute drive of le tasting room. Our prices and itinerary are listed below, but the total cost of your stay will depend upon the level of accommodation that you choose. This is an ideal short break and can be incorporated as part of a week or fortnight in the region.

Day of Arrival

  • Make your way to your chosen accommodation. There will be a bottle of our local fizz awaiting you in your room together with details of the next few days.
Day One 
  • We’ll come and pick you up after breakfast and drive you to le tasting room where you will spend the morning discovering ‘Loire Valley Varietals’. This guided tasting introduces you to the main grape varieties and styles of wine in the Loire valley.
  • Enjoy a delicious three course restaurant lunch prepared with local ingredients and partnered by specially chosen wines from the region.
  • A winery visit of your choice – if you are staying around Saumur this could be one of the sparkling wine producers or a visit to the Combier liqueur factory. If you are staying nearer to Angers this could be a visit to the Cointreau distillery or a visit to Brissac with its great red wines and beautiful chateau.

Day Two

  • Your morning is free to relax and discover the delights of Saumur or Angers - both have wonderful markets on a Saturday morning.
  • We'll pick you up after lunch and drive to one of the leading producers in the area, perhaps Chinon or Bourgueil (if you are staying close to Saumur) or the Coteaux du Layon (if you are nearer to Angers). Here we'll have a guided tour and tasting and you'll have the opportunity to buy wine at cellar door prices.

Day Three

  • We'll collect you from your accommodation after breakfast and head off to Savennières,  a tiny appellation famous for its dry minerally whites made from the Chenin Blanc.  After a tour and tasting with two different producers, we'll return to le tasting room for lunch in our old barrel maturation cellar where you'll enjoy a special menu based around the principals of food and wine matching.
