One of our favourite spots just down the road from us here at le tasting room. St Mathurin is a pretty riverside village overlooking the river Loire. We often sit on the bank from where I took this picture and admire the sunlight on the cream limestone buildings along the riverside. When we collect our Paris day trippers from Angers we always drive back along the north side of the river Loire. The journey hugs the north bank of the river all the way along until you reach this pretty village where we cross the river to the south side of the Loire and make our way to our little hamlet, Cumeray. I’ve posted this photo before – I just love the colours and the reflections on the water.

Normally in La Pointe it’s possible to walk down to the river and alongside it. You can sit on one of the benches and admire the tranquil water or potter along and find a more solitary spot to enjoy a glass of wine or a picnic.

A drop of liquid gold – Quarts de Chaume
I’m always a bit mystified when people tell me they don’t like ‘sweet wine’. They eat dessert, they love chocolate, they adore ice cream.

Chenin Blanc – the most versatile grape on the planet
The challenge with Chenin Blanc (if there is one) is to pin it down to a particular wine style. Or is it? Why not just embrace the fact that Chenin is a so called ‘carrier of terroir’ and that even within a single appellation you will find a myriad of different wine styles.
